10/31/24 – Halloween Surprise
Halloween at Goodwill was fantastic. We had a great party.
At around 2pm, Scott called me into the office.
“We didn’t know where this Door Greeter position would lead, but we are eliminating positions and this position is one of them. We won’t be firing you, but we have other positions at other places, if you’re interested.”
I told him I was interested and grateful and so I kept my full-time status, unloading junk at another location.
“There are many people who will miss you.” Daniella said, after telling her the news.
“I’ll miss them, too.” I replied. “Ill miss you, too, Daniella.”
We shared everything and will continue to do so in hopes of working together outside of this shithole. I was so fortunate to have her as a friend while there.
The gravity of leaving so many friends abruptly did not hit me until later after I got home. Luckily, I obnoxiously passed out enough business cards to stay in touch, should they decide to do so.
Today was the day payroll was done and so the rent is assured and all the bills are paid.
I am quite blessed. 2 am and I am writing this while, sadly I search for closer jobs. As I do, my heart is heavy knowing I will be leaving so many good people who have been so good to me.
