A Beautiful Boy - Jacob Leigh:
Jacob wearing his my glasses - loves walking into the walls.
P.S. Jacob now has his own AOL screen name JacobAlanAL@aol.com for those who want to send letters directly to him.
Hi everyone!
I am writing the update this time because Jacob is preparing for surgery this upcoming Monday. My poor little guy had tubes put in his ears last December and they worked great. He did not have one ear infection for 8 months and then the tubes fell out in August and here we go again. He has had an ear infection for over 2 months and antibiotics won't help. Monday morning he goes in for surgery to have his adenoids removed and another set of tubes......hopefully short term agony for Mommy and Ema with a long term gain. Even with the constant ear pain, he is a very happy little boy. What can I say? He makes us laugh all the time and provides us with magical entertainment.
His favorite foods: Still hot dogs and french fries. Soda is a constant battle....each time he sees me and Ema with a cup and a straw - he says shoda (his word) and gets very excited. Once we left a coke unattended on the table and when we found him, he was sitting quietly in his chair with his arms wrapped lovingly around the soda, hoping we wouldn't notice - funny. He is discovering sweets but still likes his fruits also. A new favorite treat is a small ice cream cone filled with M&M's - still not a big ice cream fan.
His favorite show: Dino train - we are learning all about dinosaurs over and over again all day long.....
His favorite activity: Anything outdoors...he swam all summer and now wants to be outside as much as possible - it is good we live in Las Vegas. He loves his backyard, the park and exploring all he can. We took him to the pumpkin match (his word) and he still is talking about it. He also loves playing in the sink with bubbles and measuring cups.
His favorite books: He loves toy shtory (his word) thanks to his cousin Benn and thanks to his Aunt Judy - the Oriental Trading company catalog. He reads catalogs all day - very quirky.|
His vocabulary: He never stops talking, has thousands of words and understands very complicated concepts. He is speaking in sentences, knows his colors and is starting to learn his numbers and uses his fingers while counting to 11. Letters are a few of the ABC's scattered to Z.
His progress: Bottles of milk are still around - his only comfort right now. We told him that in a couple of weeks he is going to give his bottles to the pirates because they need them and get treasure in return..ha ha we will see if it works. Working on the toilet training - he loves to tell us after he pooped just not before and removes his diaper when he pp's and rather be naked.
He still loves to brush his teeth, he likes to always hold something in his hands, he gets in the car and always has to look through his dvd's, he says good morning to Frankenstein (on our next door neighbors door for Halloween), he hates doctors, he loves his house, he kisses mommy's tummy every morning for the baby, he likes to look at himself in the mirror, likes to play guitar, drums and the trumpet, loves to climb and jump and he has the most beautiful spirit I have ever seen. Lorin and I feel so lucky to have him in our lives and he gets showered with love each and every day.
We have just found out Lorin is having a GIRL!!!!!! (only one for those we had told in the beginning it was twins - one had flew from the nest) Jacob is going to have a little sister - Yippee. The pregnancy is going well, she weighs 8 ounces and looks beautiful in her ultrasound pictures (something only a mother would say) . Lorin is feeling much better than the first three months and have gained a whopping 4 and a half pounds. I have started plotting what the room will look like - if it is even close to Jacob's room - we will have another masterpiece on our hands. Names are the toughest subject right now - the middle name is set but the first name is still up in the air.
Hope all is well with everyone in my life - sorry I don't have much time - he's a sponge.
Love,
The Altman-Leigh Gang!
